Geoff Courtnall laced up to raise funds with the 2012 Boston Marathon
On April 16, 2012, Former NHL star Geoff Courtnall ran the Boston Marathon to raise funds for the Courtnall Celebrity Classic Society and The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care, causes near and dear to Geoff and his former NHL teammate Cam Neely.
Many years ago, Geoff decided to run the Boston Marathon before reaching the age of 50 and on April 16, he did just that. The 2012 Boston Marathon was an incredibly hot with temperatures rising over 30 degrees. Due to the high heat and humidity, participants were offered to defer until next year’s race but for Geoff that would have meant giving up on his goal, something he wasn’t about to do. Geoff hit the ground running and completed the marathon with a strong finish on an exceptionally hot day.
