June 7, 2011, Victoria, BC — Less than seven weeks to go, and there is plenty to Tweet (#3C11) about for the Courtnall Celebrity Classic!

Tickets for the Gala event, Friday July 22, 2011 at the Fairmont Empress and Victoria Conference Centre are now available to the public. People may register on line for the star studded event and the cost is $300 per person for an evening of glamour, amazing food, entertainment, as well as a silent and live auction. And not to mention, rubbing shoulders with such celebrities as Pam Anderson, Jason Priestley, Don Felder, Ron MacLean and Willie Mitchell.

And, what is a celebrity event without a celebrity auctioneer? For the third time in the history of the Courtnall Celebrity Classic, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, an international company with local ties, has agreed to be the official auctioneer for the mental health fundraising gala.

Established in 1958 in Kelowna, BC, Ritchie Bros. has grown to become the world’s largest industrial auctioneer with 110 worldwide locations, including more than 40 auction sites in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. In 2010, the company’s gross auction proceeds came to USD $3.3 billion.

"This event is one that is easy for us to throw our support behind as it clearly aligns with the basic principles that Dave Ritchie, one of our co-founders, has exemplified over the years," said Kevin Tink, senior vice president of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. "It’s about doing what is right and providing continued support for our friends, customers and families’ communities."

Another event that has been officially added to the line up is the 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. CFAX 1070 radiothon, Thursday, July 21, 2011. People will be able to listen, donate online or over the phone, or better yet, down and donate in person, to CFAX’s headquarters at 1420 Broad Street.

Everyone can also keep track of all the news on the Courtnall Celebrity Classic by visiting Twitter (@Courtnall_CC), Facebook (Courtnall Celebrity Classic) or www.courtnallclassic.org. Donations are already being accepted online as well.

About the 2011 Courtnall Celebrity Classic
Already a two-time success, and presented by Trinidad Drilling, the 2011 Courtnall Celebrity Classic will take place in Victoria this summer, July 21 to 24, 2011. Thanks to event sponsors including the Victoria Golf Course, Victoria Conference Centre, Strathcona Hotel and Fairmont Empress , the star studded long weekend includes a radiothon, fundraising dinner, silent and live auction, after party at Club9One9, and celebrity golf tournament. Previous Courtnall Celebrity Classics, held in 2003 and 2004, raised more than $2 million for the Victoria Hospitals Foundation and helped open the doors to the Archie Courtnall Centre, a Psychiatric Emergency Services Unit at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Funds raised from the 2011 Classic will purchase equipment and patient and staff education programs in support of mental health treatment in the new Patient Care Centre, as part of the Victoria Hospitals Foundation’s overall $25 million Building Care Together campaign.
